Guides and resources for the editorial product manager

What sources, what readings, what authors to read in order to understand everything or almost everything and to get a good idea of what is the role of the editorial product manager? Before looking for training, asking your boss to change jobs, or killing your aperitifs with your new discovery, I recommend you to take a look at these rich readings.

The BBC, NPR, and The New York Times are among the media outlets known for taking a proactive and very open approach to their product methodology. Other sources, mainly academic, provide insight into the specifics of the role of the media product manager. I list some of the more interesting sources below, but of course, this is a selection.

To go further on the subject, I also recommend reading “Sprint” by Jake Knapp 1 Sprint (How to Solve Big Problems and Test New Ideas in Just Five Days), Jake Knapp, Simon & Schuster; 1st edition, March 1, 2016 as a bedside book or a manual to keep at hand. This book gives you the keys to imagine a design sprint (a design sprint is a work session of variable duration – 2 to 5 days – during which a team tries to solve a clearly identified and posed problem. )) adapted to your needs. Of course, other methods exist. I have included a reference to “Pretotyping”, a method that allows you to quickly test a product or service idea without large investments.

As you can see, the sources are mainly American.  If you find better sources, please feel free to share them in the comment section, it’ll be greatly appreciated.
